The Supreme Court's Dred Scott decision (1857) said that African Americans were not human nor US citizens. These democrat Judges were as wrong as wrong can be (as Evan Sayet would say). The Dred Scott decision has gone down in history as the worst decision in the history of the Court. Have we done it again?
What if there is a God. What if there really is such a thing as right and wrong, or even sin. What if Jesus rose from the dead. What if an all powerful God could preserve his book, the Bible, so that it was a true representation of His will. I know that is a lot. But if there is a God He might have some opinions.
True Christians desire that all might be saved and go to heaven. They are to speak the truth in love. They believe that they are armed with the loving Truth and it would be a sin not to warn someone that their life was in danger. It would be immoral to know a river had washed out a bridge and not do everything possible to keep other drivers from driving into the raging torrents. It is immoral for Christians not to speak the truth in love, even if it is very unpopular. The ten commandments are the start of Western Civilizations law. The word of the Lord on this subject is very clear. So do we throw out 6,000 years of Old Testament history where marriage is between a man and a woman? Do we throw out 2,000 years of New Testament where marriage is between a man and a woman? Do we make Government God? Because that has not turned out well for Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia, and Mao's China, where they killed 120 Million of their own people. Last week the Government made itself God. Not a good direction as history has proved. The Dred Scott decision was one of the causes of the Civil War.
Do we just blindly accept the brain washing of Hollywood that has had 20% to 30% Gay characters relentlessly on television? Most people think that there are 20% to 30% gay people in the United States because of Hollywood, but the Gallup Poll says there are 1.7% Gay men and 3.7% LGBTQ combined in America. Do we repeat like a mantra, "Well they were born that way", when not a single AMA study has shown any genetic connection. And this author has been told repeatedly by Gay people that they were abused as children. Do we as Christians now shut up and allow people to drive their proverbial cars into the raging torrents only to drown? Or are we compelled to speak the truth in Love? Some people label speaking the truth as hate.
A Christian speaks the truth because of their love of people and the desire to not see them drown in the torrents of deception that has overtaken our country today.
I choose Love.
Here are some passages from the Bible for your consideration (If you do not like the passages your beef is with God not people.):
"But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. (Mark 10:6-8 NKJV)
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24 NKJV)
And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD. You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:21-22 NKJV)
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. (Romans 1:26-27 NKJV)
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10.
But as Bonhoeffer said:
“Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”
What shall we now do and say?
As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!
